No multiplayer beta for Modern Warfare 2

Infinity Ward's Robert Bowling has given the final word on a Modern Warfare 2 beta, saying it's not out of the realm of possibility, but also not very likely. "While no Public Beta is currently announced we do plan on running an extensive Closed Beta among Infinity Ward, Activision, and possibly first party partners worldwide ... once the internal beta is completed, if for any reason we feel we didn't receive the feedback, address the issues, or have the result we expect, we would consider pushing forward with a public one. However at this point only an internal Closed Beta is planned." And that's that! ... or is it?! (We're pretty sure it is.)
We know you had a great time testing Call of Duty 4's multiplayer component before the final game launched, so we're sad to note CVG's report that Modern Warfare 2 will not go the same route as its predecessor. An Activision spokesperson confirmed to the outlet that there will be no multiplayer beta for the game.

Modern Warfare 2: Prestige Edition includes working night vision goggles, original Call of Duty for PSN/XBLA

What on Earth? Infinity Ward community manager Robert Bowling has made a YouTube video of himself unboxing the absolutely epic "prestige edition" of Modern Warfare 2 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

When we say "epic," we're talking "it includes working night vision goggles" epic.

Also in the box is a voucher code for downloading the previously rumored PSN/XBLA version of the original Call of Duty.

This plus a steel game case, art book and a custom molded plastic head for displaying your working night vision goggles on. (But of course!)

There's no mention of a retail price for the set, but we can't imagine it'll be anything less than stupid crazy expensive. We're also working to find out when and if Activision intends to distribute the downloadable remake of the CoD that started it all

Modern Warfare 2 co-op is for two players

Infinity Ward has confirmed that Modern Warfare 2 co-op will be limited to two players, and will not be linked with the story campaign at all.

"Two player seemed to be the magic number for co-op. That's when it stayed really fun and intense without becoming a clusterf*** of things.
We just found that two-players was the most fun," community manager Robert Bowling explained to VideoGamer.

"We don't do co-op in our story because we're crafting a very specific experience and we don't want to ruin that by cramming co-op into it. We take the moments that work really well with co-op, we bring them out and we put them in Special Ops."

Previous instalment Call of Duty: World at War had co-op for four people, both during the campaign and as part of a bonus Zombie Mode.

Special Ops for Bowling and Modern Warfare 2, however, is about "playing over and over again, trying to get a better time".
"It's about challenging a friend," he said.

Modern Warfare 2 launches for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 on 10th November.
